I love Gadgets! My Must Haves For Traveling Alone
Some people are just born with an inherent sense of direction and independence. I, unfortunately, am not one of those people. I've traveled to a lot of other parts of the world and gone on lots of long flights, but I've always had someone else with me or who has done all the planning and mapping for me.
When I plan on traveling with my All-You-Can-Jet pass via Jet Blue, I will be doing some parts of it solo and as a result, I plan to relying on a slew of gadgets that have helped me in my travels before to help me get through this trip as easily as possible. Basically, these are the things that'll help me get through my travels alone with ease.
- My iPhone: Filled with a ton of applications and maps, I find that my iPhone not only helps me stay connected via the internet, but it helps me get around new towns as well. Some of the applications I love while traveling: yelp, twitterific, facebook, opentable, Flickr. The phone also doubles as my entertainment on planes with all of the music and games I've put on it. Not to mention, I love the clock features with the world clock mode and alarms that I can use to set for my different flights.
- Gorilla Pod: What exactly is a Gorilla Pod? It's a device that you can attach to your camera that allows you to take pictures from different angles and not to mention without using your own hands, so as a solo traveler, this will allow you to take some pictures of yourself out and about without having to run and grab some stranger to take your picture.
- Flip Mino HD: I love my little Flip Mino HD camera. I bought it last year from Costco and at a little over $150, this little guy has definitely earned his keep with me. It also fits with my Gorilla Pod, which is another added bonus. Sure, it's not the greatest video camera, but for a little hand held portable device that is extremely easy to use, I love it!
- Sony Cybershot Camera: I love my camera. My husband bought it for me a few years ago, and yes it is bright pink, but I still love the ease of this camera. It's easy to use, takes great point and shoot photos and has tons of memory space. This also works with my Gorilla Pod, which is a lifesaver since sometimes when you're traveling alone, you can't always find someone around to grab a quick photo for you.
Sure, these aren't the only items I'm bringing along with me on my trip, but these are the essentials that I can't live without while traveling on my trip.
